The National House Building Council (NHBC) has appointed Steve Wood as its new Chief Executive.

Mr Wood, who has over 30 years' experience within the insurance industry, takes up his new role today, 30 June.

Previously, he worked as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Paymentshield. He has also worked as UK Managing Director at Ecclesiastical Insurance Group, where he spent eight years strengthening its core market positions and broker relationships.

Speaking on his appointment, Mr Wood said: "I am very pleased to be joining NHBC at a time when housing is such a critical issue for the UK. NHBC has a unique role to play and, as Chief Executive, I look forward to building on NHBC's important work, ensuring that we continue to provide excellent service to our policyholders and our builder customers and continue to make a positive impact on the quality of new homes."
