Planning permission has been approved to develop the final phase of the Riverside Quarter in Wandsworth.

A total of 172 properties will be built, with 93 of them for shared ownership, on the site which is next to a recently-completed aquatic habitat for wildlife in Bell Lane Creek. Overall, 36% of the homes built across all phases of the Riverside Quarter development have been for low cost housing.

The development, by Frasers Property, will also see the opening up of a new stretch of the Thames Path and a newly-created Wandle Promenade, a woodland pocket park play area for children, and extensive landscaping.

Cllr Richard Field, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Applications Committee, said: "For this building we took into account concerns such as its height, among other matters, and ultimately considered that it remained appropriate with recent developments within the area. Members of the committee ultimately voted in favour of it by six to three."
