Willmott Dixon has won a £17 million contract to create a new secondary school in Hertfordshire.

The contractor will build the new 840-place Reach Free School close to Maple Cross in Rickmansworth.

The project includes major investment in local highways infrastructure as well as on-site parking spaces, new walking routes and safe crossing points. In addition, a large drop-off area will be built within the site that will help to prevent congestion on local roads.

The development site also provides the school with increased space and the facilities to grow and thrive.

Chris Tredget, managing director of Willmott Dixon in the Northern Home Counties, said: "We are delighted to be creating another cutting-edge school in our region, generating much needed school places and a first class learning environment for students."
