Galliford Try has announced Jeremy Townsend is to become a Non-Executive Director.
Mr Townsend will takeover from current audit committee chair Andrew Jenner, who has notified the Board of his intention not to seek re-election at the 2017 annual general meeting.
The new appointment will commence on 01 September, in addition to Peter Ventress assuming the chairmanship of the nomination committee. Terry Miller will continue to be a member of the committee.
Mr Townsend is joining Galliford Try from Rentokil Initial, where he currently works as Chief Financial Officer. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and a member of the Accounting Council of the Financial Reporting Council.
Peter Ventress, Chairman, said: "I am delighted to welcome Jeremy to Galliford Try as a non-executive director. Jeremy's appointment will further strengthen our independence and the experience of the Board as well as ensure a smooth transition for Andrew's departure. The Board looks forward to Jeremy quickly establishing himself in the new role, and to benefiting from his extensive corporate and sector experience. Jeremy will assume the role of chair of the audit committee on Andrew stepping down.
"On behalf of the Group I would like to thank Andrew for his valuable contributions as a director and excellent chairmanship of the audit committee in overseeing a time of significant change and growth during his extensive time on the Board.
"I would also like to express my thanks on behalf of the Group for Terry's service as chair of the nomination committee during a time of major change at Board and senior management level over the past three years."
