UK-based composite materials business Belzona has helped deliver a commercial properties maintenance project in Brisbane.
The distributor's products were used by Rezitech, which worked extensively with one facility management company to repair and protect its two adjoining buildings with Belzona materials, from the top (the roofs) to the bottom (a basement pub). Rezitech's positive and professional approach, and the potential of the Belzona solutions, has been serving this company for 10 years over numerous projects. The products Rezitech uses have been purposefully engineered by Belzona to provide better results than their traditional counterparts, able to leave structures in perfect condition for more than 20 years.
Roofs – Flexible Roofing Machine
In April 2015, one of the building's consistently-leaking air conditioning chemical dosing units suddenly incurred a large spillage. It was decided to use a layer of Belzona 3111 (Flexible Membrane) for the area stretching from underneath the dosing unit to the drain. This single-component, liquid material is easy to apply evenly to the complex contours of a roof and does not contain any solvents. This enabled work to continue in the offices below without disruption from odours. By coating this area, the risk of the chemicals penetrating the roof were drastically reduced.
Loading Dock – Polymeric Grip Systems
The entrance to one of the building's loading docks had deteriorated significantly over the years with the previous coating no longer providing adequate grip. This area also doubled as the office's car park entrance and was in constant use by tenants. Therefore, the facility manager wanted to implement a quick repair to reduce the risk of slipping for the long-term.
Rezitech's solution was to use two materials. To begin with, an industrial coating was applied to the prepared surface in two layers, providing significant slip resistance to reduce the potential of accidents as well as extending the flooring's lifespan. Plus, the chosen coating, Belzona 5231 (SG Laminate), cures in eight hours at 20°C (68°F), which promised minimal downtime for the frequently used area.
To complete the application, the lettering and chevrons were reinstated in bright yellow. However, rather than using traditional paints which can quickly wear and have slip potential, Rezitech chose to utilise Belzona 4411 (Granogrip), a hard-wearing specialist system instead.
