AECOM has been selected as the preferred construction partner for an £800 million residential development in London.
The 'Spire London' scheme will see a new 67-storey high residential tower created over West India Quay in London Docklands by Chinese developer Greenland Group.
Designed by architects Larry Malcic and Christopher Colosimo on HoK, along with Nicola Fontanella of Argent, features include 861 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses built inside a 771ft high tower.
Work is already underway on the first phase of construction, with work on the basement and main build scheduled for the end of 2017. Foundations specialist Bachy Soletanche, the appointed pilings contractor, is due to complete works by November. The contractor is also responsible for delivering the geotechnical package on the development, having set a new UK record for static load testing of piled foundations achieving a maximum loading force in excess of 100 MN, using the Osterberg Cell technique.
A Pre-Construction Services Agreement has also been signed with Permasteelisa Group to deliver the cladding contract, one of the largest construction packages for the project.
A signing ceremony took place between Greenland Group and AECOM on Wednesday, 24 May.
Wenhao Qian, Managing Director of Greenland (UK) Investments, said: "Spire London is set to become one of London's iconic, landmark buildings, and it is vital that we have the right team in place that can deliver a project of this scale. AECOM has been a trusted partner for Greenland on our extensive portfolio, and we are delighted to have awarded them the Pre-Construction Services Agreement for the main construction works. We look forward to building our relationship with them as we work together to bring Spire London to life."
