McLaren Construction has been selected to refurbish an office building in London.
The contractor will redevelop and fit-out the New Bracken House office building for the Obayashi Corporation. Completion is scheduled for 2018.
Designed by John Robertson Architects, the building will provide 270,000 sq ft of Grade-A office accommodation once finished. The project aims to achieve a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating.
Work will include stripping out the building, with some portions of the floors on the wings removed to create open courtyards. External listed wings will be cleaned and refurbished and existing roof configured with a 150-metre running track for employees, encasing a glass skylight.
Other features include full catering facilities, over 1500 desks in open plan offices as well as audio and video studio suite and live broadcasting capability, along with a news room. New MEP services will be installed throughout and a high quality finish to the reception, new toilets and lift lobby areas.
