Plans Unveiled For New £90m Heatherwood Hospital

Plans have been unveiled for a new £90 million hospital in Berkshire.

The proposals by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust involve rebuilding Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot.

A new modern building will be developed on what is currently woodland at the Heatherwood site, with further land sold for housing to help part-fund the development.

Features include six operating theatres, 40 inpatient beds plus private patient spaces and day case and endoscopy facilities. In addition, there will be enhanced diagnostic and outpatient services and room for a primary care hub for the area.

The Trust said: "It will not be possible to continue using the current buildings on site for much longer as they are unaffordable to maintain and not configured to meet modern standards. Therefore the trust believes its plans are the only realistic way of securing fantastic hospital services in Ascot for future generations."

The plans will now be submitted to councillors from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead for approval.
