Britcon has been selected to carry out a £700,000 refurbishment project for the University of York.

The 10-week project will be carried out at the University's Central Hall on Campus West. Work has already started on the scheme, which will see existing mechanical and electrical infrastructure upgraded alongside the replacement of all existing windows with curtain walling to help improve the energy efficiency of the building.

The contract award follows the successful completion of a £68,000 refurbishment scheme for the Information Centre at the University, which saw the facility stripped out, reconfigured and refurbished by Britcon.

Gary Ashmore, Head of Estates Development at the University of York said: "The Central Hall refurbishment is part of our ongoing commitment to significant investment in providing high quality teaching and learning environments across our Campus. We are delighted to have Britcon working in partnership with us as we embark on this 3 year programme of transformation of this landmark facility at the University."
