Plans have been submitted to build a new £50 million Liverpool Football Club (FC) training facility in Kirkby.

The Club is planning to redevelop its Academy site, bringing together first team and Academy football training operations/facilities on one site.

If permission is granted, the features would provide Liverpool FC with first-class combined training facilities and the local community with upgraded football pitches, new changing rooms and associated facilities including car parking, a new pedestrian and cycle pathway, lighting and improved security.

In addition, enhancements will be carried out to the existing community playing fields and facilities at the adjacent site on Simonswood Lane.

On its website, the Club said: The club will continue to work closely with Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council to keep local residents and businesses updated on progress throughout the application process and any resultant development."
