Work On £395,000 Footbridge Upgrade Project Complete

Work on a £395,000 footbridge upgrade project is now complete.

The structure at Llanfairpwll station, which is over 100-years-old, was removed earlier this year to undergo repair works.

The specialist refurbishment works and repairs were carried out at the Centregreat Rail workshop in Cardiff. Engineers carried out maintenance repairs and cleaned, strengthened and painted the footbridge.

In addition, the footbridge's stairways have been shot-blasted, primed and re-decorated in preparation for the return of the refurbished landing, while new white palisade fencing has also been installed.

Andy Thomas, route managing director for Network Rail Wales, said: "Working with our partners at Arriva Trains Wales, we were keen to complete the work during the winter and spring in order to cause minimal disruption, as Llanfairpwll is a popular tourist destination."
