Plans have been approved for a new £14 million student accommodation development in Leeds.
Crosslane Student Developments has secured conditional planning consent to build a 117-bed facility on Woodhouse Square in the north west of the city centre.
Features will include 117 en-suite, self-contained studio apartments over five stories, including significant dedicated communal areas as well as a common room, study room, communal kitchen/dining entertaining area, gym, private outdoor courtyard with cycle storage and superfast broadband/Wi-Fi.
Crosslane has appointed DAY Architectural as the architects for the development and completion is scheduled for the 2018/19 academic year.
The scheme is Crosslane's first development in Leeds, but second in Yorkshire, and follows the approval of planning permission and construction of Crosslane's 437 bed purpose-built student accommodation development in Sheffield, due for completion in September.
Robert Goulsbra, Development Manager, Crosslane Student Developments, said: "Crosslane is delighted to have secured planning consent for Woodhouse Square, our first student accommodation development in Leeds, a city with one of the largest student populations in the country whose numbers are continuing to increase.
"Crosslane has worked in close conjunction with the Leeds planning department, adapting the proposal to ensure it reflected local requirements whilst meeting the increasing expectation of students looking to live in modern purpose-built student accommodation."
