RG Group has been selected to deliver a £53.2 million retail and leisure regeneration scheme in Dover.
Kier have already completed enabling works on the 157,000 sq ft St James scheme. However, after failing to agree build costs, the company backed out of the project.
The scheme is being funded by Legal & General (L&G) and developed by Bond City.
Construction works are progressing on a six-screen Cineworld cinema, the restaurant block, and the main retail block of the scheme on Townwall Street. In addition, a 108-bed Travelodge hotel is also being built.
Sub-contractor Gallagher Group has been working on the site since December, and will continue this role as RG Group assumes possession of the site.
Once practical completion is reached in 2018, the modern retail and leisure provision will support the town's growing population.
Neil Crawford, Head of Retail and Leisure Development at LGIM Real Assets, said: "Already significantly pre-let, St James, Dover will provide a modern, fit for purpose and highly prominent retail and leisure destination for the town. We are continuing to see significant demand from retailers wanting to sign up to the scheme, and it is great to see works progressing, bringing to life the transformation of the town centre."
Trevor Puttick, Director at RG Group, said: "We look forward to working with both Bond City and Legal & General to deliver an excellent scheme for Dover."
