Architectural rooflight manufacturer Glazing Vision is proud to introduce its latest innovation, the Pitchglaze roof window.
The Pitchglaze is a CE marked roof window designed to be installed in pitched tiled roof applications flush with the tiling line. Glazing Vision have adopted their pioneering 'frameless' design ethos with this product so that when installed the building occupants can enjoy sky only views from the roof window, something not usually found with traditional roof window products.
The Pitchglaze is designed to be used in roof pitches between 15° and 60° and comprises of Qualicoat approved polyester powder coated aluminium framework combined with either double or triple glazing. The glass specification is high performance thermally efficient low emissivity (low e) coated glass which has been heat soak tested for additional safety.
The main driving force behind the development of this product was scale, most existing roof window manufacturers products are very limited in size but customers are increasingly demanding larger scale glazed sections as their desire for open plan spaces filled with natural daylight continues.
So Glazing Vision set about taking its 20 years' experience with the flat roof skylight market and developed a product that could provide much larger expanses of glass but still retain its low profile and remain as inconspicuous as possible when installed on the roof. Based on the current design, aperture sizes of up to 3m2 are achievable.
One of the key design elements Glazing Vision wanted to focus on was improving the way that installations are carried out. Existing products on the market all involve some type of internal fixings which although convenient at the time of installation, if for any reason the roof window needs to be removed or replaced then any internal finishes are likely to be damaged or destroyed.
The Pitchglaze has been designed so that all fixings are accessible from the outside, which means that the roof window can be completely removed without affecting internal finishes and causing costly damage.
Key Selling Points
• Minimum framework, maximum daylight
• Sky only views, no internally visible framework
• Minimal contemporary finish
• CE marked roof window
• Install flush with roof tiles
• Sizes up to 3m2
• External fixings allow easy removal or replacement
• Qualicoat approved polyester powder coated framework
• Heat soak tested, toughened low emissivity glass as standard
Typical Project
The Pitchglaze roof window is perfect for a wide variety of pitched roof projects which will vary from smaller domestic builds which will benefit from the additional daylight that larger units can provide to high end residential which may combine several units installed adjacent to one another creating entire glazed ceilings as an architectural feature.
CE Marked
The Pitchglaze roof window has been tested for weather performance in accordance with BS 6375-1 which covers air permeability, water tightness and wind resistance.
The unit performed without fault during these tests, the results and declared values are stated below:
Test/Standard/Classification
• Air Permeability, BS EN 12207, Class 4 / 600 pascals
• Water Tightness, BS EN 12208, 9A / 600 pascals
• Wind Resistance, BS EN 12210, Class 3C / 1200 pascals
