A £2.3 million access improvement scheme is to begin at Warwick railway station.

The 'Access for All' project is part of Network Rail's Railway Upgrade Plan and aims to make the station more accessible for all train passengers.

Plans include installing lifts on either side of the station, giving step-free access on both of its platforms.

Speaking during a visit to the station, MP for Warwick and Leamington Chris White said: "This is an important improvement which will make train travel far easier for mobility-impaired passengers at Warwick station."

Simon Clifford, Network Rail's senior scheme sponsor for the Warwick station improvements, added: "We're grateful to Chris White MP for pushing hard for this 'Access for All' scheme, which will benefit many train customers."

The project is scheduled to be completed early in 2019.
