Morgan Sindall has been selected to deliver three school expansion projects in Devon.
The schemes are worth £3.5 million and aim to alleviate the pressure on school places in the region.
The first project will see the firm replace temporary classroom blocks with a new school building at Withycombe Raleigh Primary School in Exmouth. The building will include four classrooms and is scheduled to be complete in time for the 2017 academic year.
In addition, Morgan Sindall will build a £1.8m sports and fitness building at Honiton Community College. The eight-month project will replace the schools current 1940s gym with a new, modern facility. Designed by TFQ Architects, the building will include a dance studio, fitness suite, changing and shower facilities and a new gym, as well as three specialist classrooms, office space and an ICT suite.
Finally, the contractor will design and build a new £642,000 teaching and training space at Combe Pafford School in Torquay.
The scheme includes the delivery of a two-storey teaching block which will include three classrooms, a hair dressing salon and an office for staff.
Nigel Whelan, area manager at Morgan Sindall, said: "We're very pleased to have been appointed to deliver these three projects, which will help alleviate pressure on school places in Devon by creating new, state-of-the-art learning and teaching spaces.
"Morgan Sindall delivers education projects on a regular basis and many of our expansion projects are completed in live school environments so a timely turnaround, with as little disruption to the school as possible, is essential.
"All three schools are integral parts of their communities and we look forward to working closely with students and staff as each project progresses."
