Plans have been approved for a new graduate accommodation scheme in Cambridge.
A joint venture (JV) between Howard Property Group and Osborne is proposing to deliver four new blocks comprising of purpose-built accommodation on the site of Mount Pleasant House.
It is anticipated demolition work on the site will begin this autumn. Designed by architects R H Partnership, with advice from Nicholas Hare Architects LLP acting as consultant architects, four blocks providing en-suite bedrooms and studio flats will be centred around two south-facing courtyards.
The development is being delivered for St Edmund's College and will create enough space for around 280 graduate students and university/college staff. Cycle parking will also be included.
William Jewson, speaking on behalf of the Howard Osbourne JV, said: "We are delighted that our plans for Mount Pleasant Halls have been approved. They will provide high quality graduate accommodation for St Edmund’s College in an ideal location, at the same time as regenerating the Mount Pleasant site.
"We would like to thank both the local community and the Design and Conservation Panel for the role they have played in helping us to develop and improve our proposals for the site."
The facility is scheduled to be ready for occupation in summer 2019.
