An unregistered gas fitter has been fined for carrying out unsafe gas work.
Mr Fergus Leask, of 17 Fowler Rd, Farnborough pleaded guilty to breaching Regulation 3(3) of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, for carrying out gas work without being gas safe registered and Regulation 3(7) for falsely pretending to be gas safe registered. He was fined £1,230 with £350 in costs.
Basingstoke Magistrates' court heard how Mr Leask, trading as Eldan Plumbing, installed a boiler at a property and assured the homeowner he was Gas Safe Registered.
However, after he was unable to supply the gas safe certificate months after completing the installation, the homeowner contacted Gas Safe who confirmed Mr Leask was not gas safe registered.
An inspection of the boiler by the Gas Safe Register later confirmed the boiler was 'at risk', indicating a risk to life or property.
