Morgan Sindall is continuing work on an £8.2 million primary school expansion project in Berkshire.
The contractor is expanding Claycots Primary School in Slough, the UK's largest primary school.
Work to erect the three-floor steel frame is now complete, which will eventually comprise of 15 new classrooms, a medical room, library, kitchen and sports hall. In addition, a new plant room will be delivered, as well as a reprographics room and internal improvements to the existing building, including the creation of new offices and meeting rooms for staff.
Further extensions and alterations will be carried out to the school's historic Old Town Hall site on Bath Road.
The project, which is being delivered for Slough Urban Renewal, will see the school increase its eight-form entry facility to offer 120 places in each year group.
James York, area director at Morgan Sindall, said: "We're so pleased to be celebrating the progress of this important expansion which will help alleviate the demand for school places in Slough.
"The Old Town Hall campus is steeped in history and its traditional features should be treasured and preserved. It's wonderful that buildings like this one can continue to be a rich and valuable part of our community's heritage and provide a first class teaching base for the next generation.”
Andy Howell at Slough Urban Renewal, said: "We are delighted to be making good progress with the expansion works. Working collaboratively with the schools and the council, we look forward to enhancing the learning environment for pupils in Slough."
