Work on a new council housing development in Brighton and Hove is now complete.

A total of four 'affordable' homes were developed on the site of a former garage block in Pierre Close, Portslade.

The Pierre Close scheme, off Foredown Road, is part of the city council's New Homes for Neighbourhoods programme, which aims to build at least 500 new council homes on council land by 2020.

It is one of three recent council developments built on redundant garage sites; four family houses in Aldwick Mews, Hangleton and four in Flint Close, Portslade.

Cllr Anne Meadows said: "Pierre Close is an example of how we are making good use of small pockets of land and transforming redundant areas to provide much needed new homes. After following these schemes from the drawing board, it's great to see people settling into their new houses."

Other developments currently underway or in the pipeline include 57 flats at Kite Place in Whitehawk, 45 extra care flats in Albion Street, 29 flats on the Wellsbourne site in Whitehawk, and 12 flats and houses in the North Laine.
