Residents are being invited to submit their views over planned flood defences in Bampton and Tiverton, Devon.

It is estimated around 100 properties are at risk of flooding in Brampton, while between 1,000 – 2,000 properties are at risk in Tiverton.

The Environment Agency (EA) is organising the drop-in sessions for residents to view plans to reduce the risk of flooding in their respective towns. The exhibitions will give both communities the chance to meet the project team, learn more about potential options and provide feedback.

Once the options have been fully explored, the EA will develop the best solution into a detailed design for the towns. Once progressed, and subject to the schemes receiving funding and planning permission, construction is expected to be completed by 2021.

Ian Hooper for the EA said: "It's vital that we meet with as many people as possible in the local communities to discuss the options available to reduce flood risk in Bampton and Tiverton. That way we can develop the best solutions for everybody."

Dates of the events are as follows

• 3.30pm – 6.30pm, Riverside Hall, Bampton on Tuesday 31 January.

• 1.30pm and 7.30pm, The Council Chambers, Tiverton on Wednesday, 01 February.
