Willmott Dixon has been selected to deliver a new £27 million campus for Aberystwyth University in Wales.

The contractor will develop a new Innovation and Enterprise Campus (AIEC) on the university's existing Gogerddan Campus.

Proposed features of the facility include a Bio-refining Centre, Future Food Centre, Analytical Science laboratories and a Seed Processing and Biobank Facility. In addition, it will include formal and informal meeting areas and office/laboratory accommodation for companies committed to innovate.

Overall, the development will provide facilities and the expertise to create market focused solutions for the agri-tech industry.

Willmott Dixon has been selected for the pre-construction stage of the project and will work with the university's team to develop a detailed technical design for the new campus.

One of the existing buildings, which will form part of the AEIC, has already been refurbished and provides over 300m2 of rentable office accommodation for businesses.

A decision on the planning application is expected to be made this Spring. If granted, construction is scheduled to start mid-2017, with completion to take two years.
