Meinhardt UK has been selected to help deliver a new secondary school project in Hertfordshire.

The multidisciplinary engineering consultancy will provide civil and structural engineering services for the new Hertswood Academy in Borehamwood.

Designed by Bond Bryan Architects alongside Imtech, who are providing mechanical and electrical services to the project, the new building is being delivered by Willmott Dixon. Completion is scheduled for 2018.

The new large three-storey building will feature a library and extensive community facilities, including a theatre and sports centre. It will accommodate 1,450 students once completed, including cutting-edge ICT, expansive open learning spaces and a superb new refectory built around a quadrangle containing a sensory garden. In addition, a new community use theatre and large sports hall will be built.

The proposed design features structural steelwork with masonry infill panels for robustness.
