J. Murphy & Sons (Murphy) has announced the appointment of Peter Anderson as its new Managing Director to lead its southern business units.

With experience in delivering business transformation and leading multi-disciplinary teams, Mr Anderson will take up his new position in February.

He joins the company from Balfour Beatty where he was MD of its joint venture on the HS2 project. He held various MD roles at the company including its rail international, rail UK, rail services and rail renewals businesses.

Welcoming the appointment, Murphy's Chief Executive Officer, Steve Hollingshead, said: "I am delighted Peter is joining us. We have a lot to deliver for our clients and there are great opportunities across the infrastructure sector. Peter further boosts our team to maximise those opportunities and deliver our ten-year plan."

Mr Anderson added: "This is a really exciting time to be joining the Murphy team and I'm looking forward to getting started. Murphy's ten-year plan builds on an impressive legacy. I understand the opportunities available in the sector and I will use my skills and experience to help deliver Murphy's vision."
