A joint venture (JV) between Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O'Rourke has won a major contract to help deliver Hinkley Point C in Somerset.

Developer EDF Energy has selected the JV to build two European Pressurised Reactor (EPR) nuclear reactors for the £18 billion power station project. The deal is worth at least £1.4bn alone to Bouygues.

Around 3,500 site workers will be employed at peak periods to help deliver the nuclear power station, which will consist of twin EPR reactors with total capacity of 3.2 GW.

Once completed, the facility will supply 7% of the UK's electricity and power over five million homes.
