Amey has appointed Tim Harbot as Director of Technical Excellence for its Highways Executive Team.

With over 26 years' experience, Mr Harbot previously worked as a former Regional Director at Highways England.

He also worked for Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council on the design of Black Country Spine Road before joining the Department of Transport and then the Highways Agency, where he became Director (Midlands) in Network Operations, managing the strategic road network in West and East Midlands.

In 2015, he was responsible for the overall leadership of the project delivering Highways England's new approach to maintenance called 'asset-led delivery'.

In his new role, Mr Harbot will focus on three key areas; customer service, quality & processes and innovation.

James Haluch, Amey's Managing Director of Highways, said: "Tim has a wealth of experience working at Highways England and has a superb understanding of the networks and their demands. He is offering us valuable insights into the needs of our clients and will be helping refine our customer service offering in the coming months, as well as reviewing our processes and innovation programme."
