Kier Chosen For £100m Powys Housing Maintenance Contract

Powys County Council has selected Kier as its preferred bidder on a ten-year £100 million property maintenance contract.

In a trading update today, 17 November, the contractor revealed it will carry out a maintenance services for the local authority across its social housing stock, as well as other public/commercial buildings.

In addition, Kier has secured positions on the four-year £4 billion Department of Health ProCure22 framework, two five-year construction frameworks worth up to £750m at Gatwick Airport and a two-year £500m University of Cambridge framework. Work has also began at the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station site.

Internationally, the company said two contracts in Hong Kong "remain challenging", however it expects to reach completion during the first quarter of 2017.

Other key wins include a five-year extension to the Suffolk County Council highways contract worth more than £250m, while the outcome of a tender process for selected Highways England Areas is still due to be announced.

Overall, Kier said: "The Group remains on course to meet expectations for the current financial year and deliver on its Vision 2020 targets."
