Morgan Sindall has won an £11 million deal to build a new school in Norfolk.

The contractor will deliver a new Chapel Road School on Abbey Road. Completion is scheduled for the start of the new school year in 2017.

The two-storey Chapel Green School will include 14 classrooms as well as several specially designed learning rooms, including a sensory room and a hydro therapy pool room.

Other features include external works such as the creation of a main access road and several outdoor play areas. The project team will also create a terraced garden for outdoor learning.

Karin Heap, headteacher at Chapel Road School, said: "We're so pleased that construction of the building is finally starting. Our pupils and staff will soon be able to learn and work in a school that is purposefully designed meaning that compromises on learning, due to restrictions in the accommodation, will be issues of the past."

Gavin Napper, area director at Morgan Sindall, said: "We're delighted to be starting work at Chapel Road School. The new facility will provide a modern education campus where children with learning difficulties can learn in a safe and comfortable environment.
