Network Rail Completes Nottinghamshire Bridge Upgrade

Network Rail has completed work to upgrade a railway bridge in Nottinghamshire.

Engineers have rebuilt the 140-year-old Station Road bridge in Hucknall as part of the company's £40 billion Railway Upgrade Plan.

Works included strengthening the structure as well as replacing the road surface to improve the route for around 9,000 vehicles which use the bridge each day.

Network Rail said some workers will remain on site until November to carry out finishing touches to the upgrades.

Rob McIntosh, Route Managing Director for Network Rail said: "We are delighted to have completed the improvements to Station Road bridge.

"It is a vital transport link for the people of Hucknall and we believe this upgrade will increase its reliability. We're really grateful to all residents for their patience and understanding whilst this work was carried out."
