Coleman & Company has confirmed it will not be continuing its demolition and site clearance work at Didcot A Power Station in Oxfordshire.

The contractor was carrying out demolition preparatory works on the boiler house at the site when the building partially collapsed on 23 February. Four employees were killed and three of the bodies remaining missing under the rubble until September.

Following the collapse, Brown & Mason were brought in to help undertake recovery works in May. Site owner RWE has now decided to terminate Coleman's contract.

In a statement, the firm said: "Coleman & Company can announce that we will not be continuing with the remaining demolition and site clearance work at Didcot A Power Station.

"We agreed with site owners RWE, that this is in the best interests of all parties. We would like to thank RWE for their support over the last 2 years.

"All staff working at Didcot will be redeployed across the Company, onto other major projects."
