Spie UK has won a £12 million contract to carry out a gas mains and service replacement programme for SGN.
The deal is part of a two-year contract renewal and works will start later this month.
Up to 60km of gas mains/service lines across Thames Valley and Oxford will be renewed. The volume of works could potentially increase as work continues on the replacement programme.
The £6m-per-annum deal also includes the decommissioning of a number of metallic gas mains as well as installing new mains using live gas insertion techniques including dead insertion and open cut mainlaying.
Steven Nanda, Managing Director of Spie UK's industrial services business, said: "As with any street and road works, Spie's focus will be on completing schemes in the shortest time possible to reduce community disruption, without compromising health and safety whilst ensuring our operations cause minimum impact to the environment."
