Wates has strengthened its senior team in the Midlands by appointing John Carlin as its Business Unit Director.

With 36 years' experience in the industry, Mr Carlin will be tasked with expanding the firm's presence in the region and leading its project portfolio, which includes Ardstone Capital's refurbishment of Phoenix House in Birmingham.

He joins the company following a 24-year post with Bowmer and Kirkland, where he spent 11 years as a Divisional Director.

Speaking on his appointment, Mr Carlin said: "I am joining Wates at an exciting time, with a diverse range of projects and an exceptional team to take forward and build on the business' ongoing success. I bring to my new role an ambition to strengthen relationships with clients, both new and existing, and ensure that we continue to deliver the exceptional standards upon which Wates' reputation has been established."
