Work has begun on a new housing development in Altrincham.
Wates Living Space Homes is working alongside Trafford Housing Trust to redevelop the abandoned Bayer industrial complex off Manchester Road in West Timperley.
Demolition works are now underway at the 1.4 hectare site and the 'Stonebrook' development will feature 62 new homes/flats once phase one is completed in summer 2017.
Cllr Stephen Anstee said: "I am delighted to see the excellent plans for this site now coming to fruition. The building has been an eyesore for far too long and a magnet for vandalism and anti-social behaviour. The new homes will be a fantastic addition to the area and will also help bring more investment into this part of Altrincham."
Lee Sale, Business Director, Wates Living Space Homes, added: "Our joint venture with Trafford Housing Trust to design and deliver the Stonebrook scheme demonstrates our partnership approach to housebuilding which is closely linked to the needs of the community.
"By combining the Trust's local expertise with our experience in job creation, skills initiatives and local supply chain relations, we can both add substantial social value to projects like this."
