Briggs & Forrester has won a £6 million contract to deliver mechanical and electrical (M&E) services at Thames Valley Science Park in Reading.
The Group's Engineering Services division will carry out the first phase of M&E works at the three-storey 'Gateway Building'.
Working alongside Graham Construction and the University of Reading, the contractor will deliver domestic and public health provisions, high efficiency lighting, fire protection and data and security systems. Software will also be safeguarded In order to ensure integration with future buildings.
As the first of several buildings to be developed at Thames Valley Science Park, the 'Gateway Building' will feature laboratories and flexible office spaces to attract SME technology companies. In addition, it will include a café and conference facility.
Overall, the 16-hectare site will eventually consist of 800,000 sq ft of space located in a pedestrianised central area with shared facilities.
