Contractor BMM is to begin building the second phase of a £32 million flood defence scheme in Exeter.
The project, which began in 2014, will get underway on Monday, 05 September, and aims to reduce the flood risk to 3,200 homes and businesses.
A total of 25,000 tonnes of material have already been moved from Bromham's Farm to Cowley field, while investigation work has been carried out at the Quay to check the location of underground utilities.
Work to build a new demountable flood defence will get underway in November, with work beginning around Bonhay Road and Okehampton Road by Christmas.
In order to carry out the work, BBM will use a playing field to stockpile material and provide onsite facilities until the embankment is complete.
Cllr Rachel Sutton said: "Stockpiling material in one playing field will minimise vehicle movements across the city as all construction material will be on site."
The development is expected to be completed by spring 2017.
