Almost 7% Of Galliford Try's Vehicles Are Plug-In Hybrids

Construction firm Galliford Try has announced almost 7% of it vehicles are plug-in hybrids, after the firm signed up to a new green standard for business motoring.

Companies who join the 'Go Ultra Low' must pledge that at least 5% of their vehicles will be electric by 2020.

Alan Baker, Galliford Try Fleet Manager, said: "We have 115 Mitsubishi Outlanders as well as some Golf GTEs and Tesla's. They're suitable for staff who drive up 20,000 miles per year and can use charge stations at some company locations. Some drivers have also installed home charging stations for which grants are available. Drivers benefit from electric cars in terms of lower tax and fuel savings while they also enable Galliford Try to meet its carbon reduction commitments so they make sound sense all round."

Go Ultra Low is a joint government and industry campaign which aims to increase purchase consideration of electric vehicles by helping motorists and fleets understand the benefits, cost savings and capabilities of the wide range of electric vehicles on the market. The campaign aims to educate the public and fleet audiences about these vehicles by addressing outdated myths and highlighting benefits including how they offer competitive practicality.
