VolkerStevin has begun work on the second phase of the Colwyn Bay Promenade Enhancement project in North Wales.

The scheme involves redeveloping the town's seafront and works are to be finished by summer 2017.

The second stage will see 1km of promenade transformed to continue on from the recently completed Phase 1 waterfront works. Works will take place between Victoria Pier and the eastern extent of the Cayley Embankment.

Features of the project include developing a traversing wall, beach access and a seating area. In addition, running and cycling routes will be installed to encourage healthy lifestyles.

Other elements will be completed over the next year and include improved parking provision, new landscaping and upgrading the existing promenade finishes and facilities.

Overall the development aims to safeguard the town and infrastructure from the threat of the sea.
