National Grid is underway with work to install a new gas main in Liverpool.
The eight-week project involves replacing a worn-out section of pipe on the A57 Dale Street between the junctions with Davies Street and Exchange Street East.
The old mains will be replaced with new hard-wearing plastic pipe which, once in the ground, will last for several generations and will need little or no maintenance.
Steve Murray, National Grid's Head of Network, said: "There is never a good time to carry out Streetworks especially in busy city centre. But, I ask residents, businesses and motorists to bear with us while we carry out this essential work which is needed to make sure residents and traders in the area will continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come."
