Wates Begins Police Station Refurb In Wirral

Wates Smartspace has started refurbishment work on a police station in Wirral.

The five-month project involves upgrading Bebington Police Station which has been closed since November 2013.

Features include developing a new car park and lift, new power, data, heating and ventilation systems and landscaping. Internal structural alterations will also be made to ensure the station is fit for purpose.

The project is the first refurbishment scheme under the Merseyside Police Commissioner's 10-year strategy to modernise Merseyside Police's estate and to reduce annual running costs by £2.5 million.

Sara Dewar, Key Account Director, Wates Smartspace, said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Police Commissioner for Merseyside, the North West Construction Hub and key local stakeholders on this strategically important contract to bring Bebington Police Station back into service for the local community.

"We look forward to working closely with local suppliers and the community to keep them informed of progress and to highlight opportunities as a result of our work on this project."
