Contractor Robert Woodhead has started a £2.2 million extension project at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln.
Designed by LK2 Architects, the project at Constance Stewart Hall is to be completed by summer 2017.
The first phase of the scheme was completed last year by Robert Woodhead and phase two is to take place over the next 12 months.
Features of the extension include new accommodation as well as additional flexible teaching spaces.
The project was procured through the East Midlands Property Alliance (EMPA) Minor Works Framework.
Juliet Slater of Robert Woodhead, said: "We are delighted to be working again with Bishop Grosseteste University through the empa Minor Works Framework as it continues to enhance its facilities for students, staff and visitors.
"Being a local contractor, based just a few miles away means we will be using local Lincolnshire steel for the frame. The university students will also gain valuable work experience on the project; we are looking forward to working with the university, architects LK2, and the wider team to deliver a very exciting scheme in the heart of the city."
