BAM Construction has delivered three building projects worth more than £40 million in Somerset.

The company has handed over Blackbrook Pool in Taunton, a new secure healthcare facility in Wellington, and the new North Somerset Enterprise and Technology College (NSETC) in Weston-super-Mare.

BAM is now set to begin two new schemes in the region, one for Kingfisher Primary School in Lufton and a headquarters office project for the UK Hydrographic Office in Taunton.

BAM's Regional Director for the West, Nick Goff, said: "These are very different buildings in design and use. A leisure building such as Blackbrook Pool is going to be used by the local community both young and old, while a modern education establishment like NSETC needs to be quite high-tech because children learn in a totally different way now to how my generation did.

"Even more different is our secure mental health building for Montpelier Estates in Wellington, because the tranquility and care required for treating mental illness is a totally separate concept. These very distinct construction challenges can only be met by a skilled and experienced workforce, with a well-developed local supply chain."
