Ashe Construction has completed a £1.2 million expansion project at two schools in Nottinghamshire.

The contractor has delivered modular classroom extensions at Butlers Hill Infant and Nursery School and Broomhill Junior School in Hucknall.

The £475,000 scheme at Broomhill School features two new classrooms and was completed earlier this month.

At Butlers Hill, the £750,000 scheme included two classrooms which link to the existing school as well as additional play areas and a rear car park extension.

The developments were completed as part of the East Midlands Property Alliance (empa) framework.

Justin Howard, framework manager at Ashe Construction, said: "Both of the schools' learning environments had been working well, but given the high demand of school places in the local area it was starting to out-grow capacity. The schools were involved at every stage of the process, from planning to development, and will now be able to offer more places to children in the local area with greater room to learn and play."
