Police are appealing for witnesses after an arson attack left two vehicles badly damaged at a construction site in Surrey.

The incident occurred sometime between 4pm on Friday, 01 July and 7am on Saturday, 02 July in the closed section of road works in Tandridge Lane, Oxted.

A 14-tonne excavator with rubber tracks and a six-tonne swivel skip dumper were found scorched inside and out, with windows smashed and seat security chains cut.


PC Ady Harvey from Tandridge Area Patrol Team said the incident has caused "thousands of pounds worth of damage".

"The owner of the business is understandably distressed by this incident and we are determined to trace those responsible and bring them to justice," he said.

"I am urging anybody who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident or with any information to contact us immediately."
