Arup Selected To Deliver World's Tallest Wooden Building

Arup has been appointed to help deliver the worlds tallest wooden residential building in Amsterdam.

Working in partnership with Lingotto, Nicole Maarsen, TEAM V Architecture and Nederlandse Energie Maatschappijhe, the London-based firm will provide multi-disciplinary engineering services, including building services engineering, fire, acoustics and building physics.

The 73-metre high HAUT tower is planned to achieve a BREEAM 'Outstanding' rating and has many sustainable features including a large CO2 storage capacity.

In addition, using wood is in line to the Municipality of Amsterdam's aim for CO2 neutrality.

Solar panels will also be fitted to the building to produce renewable energy, while waste water is purified through a developed wetland on the roof.

Construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2017.
