Engineers Complete Repairs To Forest Hill Railway Line

Engineers have completed repairs to a railway line at Forest Hill in east London.

Network Rail and Thames Water spent over a day mending the route after a sink hole opened up between Norwood Junction and New Cross Gate yesterday, 19 July.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said: "Engineers found the problem section of pipe and had to work to seal it and divert the water. This then allowed Network Rail to begin filling in the hole with layers of concrete and stones."

The railway was reopened this morning, 20 July, after overnight tests to ensure the line was safe for passengers.
