Work is underway on a £13.7 million shopping centre extension project in Leeds.

Morgan Sindall will deliver the 65,000 sq ft scheme for Land Securities at White Rose Shopping Centre.

Features of the project include an 11-screen cinema, six restaurants, new public realm, outdoors spaces and six retail units totalling 25,000 sq ft.

Morgan Sindall's appointment follows its successful refurbishment of the shopping centre's food and beverage court in 2014.

Barry Roberts, Area Director at Morgan Sindall, said: "This is a fantastic project to be involved with and one which many people in West Yorkshire and beyond will benefit from. Rob Jewell, Portfolio Director at Land Securities, added: "The decision to appoint Morgan Sindall to deliver this latest improvement to White Rose Centre was an obvious one given its exemplary previous work on the project."

The contract involves a 15-month maintenance period and the extension is to be opened by summer 2017.
