£150,000 Resurfacing Scheme To Begin In Cumbria

A £150,000 resurfacing scheme is to begin on the A595 in Cumbria.

The work will be carried out over two projects and aims to improve the road surface for motorists near Whitehaven.

The first £79,500 project will last for one week and will take place between Parton and Pelican Garage from Thursday, 21 July. The second £70,000 project will begin afterwards between Bigrigg and West Lakes Science Park.

Highways England project manager Peter Gee said: "This is important work to tackle wear along sections of the A595 and give road users safer and smoother journeys. In order to minimise inconvenience to drivers we will be staggering the work and doing most of it overnight."

Both projects will require the overnight closure of side roads from time to time. Signed diversions will be in place.
