31 New Free Schools To Be Built Across UK - Cameron

A further 31 new free schools are to be built across the country, it has been announced.

On his final visit as Prime Minister (PM), David Cameron announced the new projects during a trip to Reach Academy in Feltham on Tuesday, 12 July.

Successful applicants will now begin to confirm the sites, with many set to open by September 2017.

Overall, the free schools programme forms a main part of the Government's education reforms, with 1.4 million more children in good or outstanding schools since 2010.

PM David Cameron said: "More than 300 (free schools) have been created since I became Prime Minister and 200 are set to open meaning tens of thousands more young people, many from disadvantaged areas, finally have a choice of a good education that helps them reach their full potential.

"I am proud of what this government has achieved, working with heads and teachers to raise standards so that our young people have the best possible start in life."
