IBI Group has been selected to help design a regeneration 'masterplan' for West Runcorn in Halton.
The architects will work alongside Mott MacDonald and property consultants BE Group to produce a plan/transport strategy for key areas such as Runcorn, Port Runcorn, Inovyn and Eastern Point/ Ashville.
The designers were appointed by Halton Borough Council, who are working in conjunction with Liverpool LEP and the European Regional Development Fund.
The plan will focus on delivering investment opportunities within the town by enhancing existing industrial/science based development.
In addition, the potential for further complimentary uses and an improved waterfrontage reconnecting with the town centre will also be explored.
Mark Graham from IBI Group said: "The strategic masterplan marks the start of a process of regeneration and expansion of Runcorn and the wider Halton area, which will seek to make the most of the town's waterfront. The exceptional setting provides opportunities for significant industrial, innovation and placemaking in what is one of the North West's most productive locations."
