Work is underway to refurbish a former council office building in Birmingham.
Morgan Sindall will redevelop Erdington's Civic House into an adult education centre as part of the Birmingham Adult Education Service (BAES).
The contract was awarded to the firm due to its place on the Constructing West Midlands (CWM) framework for Birmingham City Council.
The project involves redesigning the entrance and creating a modern learning environment with nine classrooms, installing modern ICT facilities and a purpose built workshop for woodwork and upholstery classes on the ground floor.
The three-storey building will be stripped out with new fixtures and fittings installed. These will include a mix of solid and glazed partitions to create the new classrooms, thermostatically controlled heating and refurbishments to the existing lift car.
Richard Fielding, area director at Morgan Sindall, said: "The finished work will provide the local community with a modern and easily accessible learning environment."
The project is due to be completed by the end of August.
